Deleveraging the Commercial Real Estate Market

The report notes that after several years of easy credit, the commercial mortgage market is entering a new period in which players are deleveraging. Going forward, debt will be expensive and loan proceeds relatively scant. The implications for commercial real estate include lower prices, fewer transactions, more loan defaults and the possible revival of the REIT market.
